Our association cannot run without all of our coaches, team managers and other volunteers. On this page you’ll find all the resources you need to be a part of our association.
Coaching Requirements
We need coaches in order for our teams to exist! We welcome those with extensive and no experience to get in touch about coaching for our teams. To become a coach it will start with you filling our Coaching Application Form. With this information, we will find the right fit and identify the next steps you’ll need to take for your certifications.

General Requirements
Respect In Sport
You’ll need to complete Respect in Sport before the season.
Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
You’ll be required to have a valid CRC/VSC on record with HNB before the season begins.
Coach Clinic/Certification
Depending on the level of hockey you are interested in coaching and you’re current certifications, you will need to complete appropriate coach’s clinic.
Team Manager Requirements
Team Managers are key parts of making sure our teams stay organized on and off the ice. What does a team manager do? Well they:

- Manage the team roster
- Ensure team equipment like jerseys and assigned appropriately
- Manage the team schedule

Certification
Some team managers also have coaches certifications or team safety person certifications. You’ll need to get the certifications you require at the start of the season.
On-Ice Volunteer
Looking to help out but not sure you can commit to being a coach or manager? That’s okay! We’re always looking for assistance especially with our younger levels of hockey. The best way to get started is to speak with your child’s coach or the coach of the level you would like to volunteer with. You can also reach out to the association directly to ask what team’s might need assistance.

Faq
Do I have to submit a CRC/VSC?
Yes, criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks are mandatory in order to be a coach or volunteer.
What if I’m not sure if my child will be playing competitive or recreational?
You can let us know that in your coach application so we are aware.
Can I volunteer in other ways?
Absolutely! Our association needs tons of volunteers to make fundraising and our events possible.
